Pixels by Patrick Jean, winner Best International Short Independent 2010

For the third time in a row the Playgrounds Awards were handed out during Playgrounds Festival. Five prices were given to the best digital shorts of 2010.

Fons Schiedon nabbed the Best Dutch Motion Design Award for his short film ‘In a Forest’. Patrick Jean won the Award for Best Digital Short Independent for his movie ‘Pixels’ and the Amsterdam based bureau Post Panic got the Award for Best Digital Short Applied for their MTV Rocks idents. Every year there’s also a price for the best student. This time the Award for Best National Digital Short Student went to Yi Zhoa from AKV St.Joost for his film 'On the Water'. The special award for the best local production went to Tim Smit for the low budget music video 'Sabotage', made for the Tilburg band Daybroke.

Zombie Nation is al sinds 1999 een bekend gezicht binnen de electro scene. De hit Kernkraft 400 staat bij vele in het geheugen gegrift en haalde in veel landen de top van de muzieklijsten. Zombie Nation heeft echter niet stilgezeten. 3 albums later is het nog steeds een van de leidende acts op het gebied van electro en dat gaan op 23 november tijdens Playgrounds zien!

Huoratron staat ook wel bekend als �The Bearded Beast from Finland� en dat is niet voor niks. Zijn mix van electronica is hard en direct. Huoratron weet perfect hoe hij het publiek moet opzwepen. Dit deed hij al online met zijn spraakmakende clips maar ook live is deze energiekeling niet te versmaden

Op Playgrounds Night is ook ruimte voor de betere dubstep in de vorm van Raveyards. Deze Belgen mengen vocals met glitch achtige beats wat zorgt voor een donkere melancholische sfeer die kan wedijveren met Nine Inch Nails.
